Dear Parents/Caregivers and Whānau of Elm Park School
Greetings, Kia ora, Fakaalofa Lahi atu, Bula vinaka, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Taloha, Kia orana, Ni hao
Term 2 is drawing to a close at the end of next week. We finish on Friday 30 June at our normal time of 3.00 pm. It has been a busy but productive term both inside and outside of the classroom. We hope you do enjoy our very regular Facebook posts. This is a very deliberate act of communication, we have a very good team who do this for our school.
We continue to work hard with attendance and I am pleased to say that we are reaching 90% attendance for the whole school. We work constantly following up on attendance issues and supporting whānau so their children get the most out of their school year.
I would like to acknowledge Mrs Dreyer for the work she has done with our student leaders. We value student leadership and you will have noticed we have our student leaders actively involved in our assemblies. Mrs Dreyer meets regularly with her leaders and has an exciting term 3 programme for them. I'd also like to acknowledge all our teachers for lifting the bar on how and what we present at assembly. Assemblies are very important in a school. A time to share learning with our community and to let each class present to the rest of the school. We have new certificates that acknowledge a more diverse range of achievements. Thank you for attending our assemblies. We are getting really good whānau turnouts.
School Uniform
Our school takes great pride in its uniform. We kindly request your cooperation with the following guidelines:
Please ensure that all clothing items are labeled with your child's name, enabling us to return them if they get misplaced.
It is important for your child to have the correct school shoes.
We gratefully accept any donations of old school shoes in good condition as we can add this to our second hand uniform stock.
Children must attend school dressed in their designated school uniform and not in their PE attire.
If your child's hair reaches their shoulders, we request that it be tied up. Hair ties should be black, blue or white in colour.
Community Consultation Evening Term 3
Senior leaders and the Board of Trustees are going to host a community consultation evening in late August during Term 3. This is an opportunity for you to have your say and provide feedback about the priorities for learning and teaching at Elm Park School. We will let you know the exact date in early Term 3. We do hope you can protect the evening to attend as children's education is a partnership.
School Hall
We have invested a large amount of resources into our hall. New windows, painted inside and out, new furniture, big new TV, durable rugs for the wooden floors, and cleared out nearly 50 years' worth of accumulated bits and pieces! The hall can now be used for school events, collaborative learning, PE during the winter, and of course, our very important Kids Korner. Thank you to Kirsty Miller and her team for being so flexible during Term 2 with the temporary location of Kids Korner.
Reminder to Kids Korner Parents - please fill out our recently sent feedback survey. We need to protect and continue to evolve Kids Korner. It provides a great service, and we need to ensure it is the best it can be.
Thank you to all our families who support our school in so many ways. A reminder our staff are happy to meet with you at any time if you have any concerns or questions about your child’s learning and progress. All staff emails are on our website, so email and make an appointment at any time.
See you all Monday, 17 July, for Term 3!
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school
Kind regards
